JCC Northwest

Since 1987 the JCC has offered early childhood programs to families in Northwest Columbus. Currently housed at rented space at St. Andrew's Church, the program serves 65 children ages six weeks to kindergarten. A prospective location will be found for a permanent facility which will allow for early education growth, as well as space for community meetings, parent committees, adult and teen activities. Financial investment: $1 million.

Brad, Kelly, Sammy, Abbie and Eliana Needleman

When Brad and Kelly Needleman started looking for preschools for their three young children near their Worthington home, the JCC Northwest program was a clear-cut winner. It fit the needs of their busy family, and offered special support for their son Sammy, who has a mild form of autism.

"The main reason for our choosing the JCC Northwest center was a Jewish education. But I also really loved the staff, and they really worked with us. It was nice to hear teachers at the end of the year say, 'I learned so much from Sammy this year.'"

After two years with the program Sammy is off to kindergarten, though he will still call the JCC home as a member of their after-school program. His sisters, twins Abbie and Eliana, will continue the legacy, attending the pre-k program focused on preparing four- and five-year-olds for kindergarten. The family-focused center and dedicated professionals mean the world to this growing family.
